Meotherapy or Microneedling.

YourAutumn/Winter skinplan starts here

Two different approaches to fresher looking skin, and why now is a lovely time to start thinking ahead to the festive season.

There’s something about autumn that makes us want to get back into a routine, and our skin is no exception. As the weather cools and the heating goes on, you might notice your complexion feeling drier, looking a little duller or needing more care than usual.
At StudioTwenty2, I’m a big believer in giving your skin a plan. Whether you’re looking for hydration and radiance or want to work on texture and acne scarring, mesotherapy and microneedling offer different ways to approach those concerns.

So, what’s the difference? and which could be right for you?

Why autumn and winter are a good time to begin
Shorter days and typically lower UV levels can make avoiding strong sun exposure more manageable, particularly while skin is recovering from treatment. It can also be easier to fit appointments around your usual routine once summer holidays are over.

That doesn’t mean winter treatments are risk free, or that SPF can go into hibernation. Sun protection and your individual aftercare remain essential throughout the year.
The real advantage? Time to plan, let your skin recover between appointments and allow results to develop without a last-minute rush.

Mesotherapy: a focus on hydration and radiance

Injectable mesotherapy involves placing small amounts of a selected preparation into the skin using fine injections. The formulation matters: “mesotherapy” describes a technique, rather than one identical treatment. Certain hyaluronic acid based preparations may help improve hydration, skin smoothness and the appearance of fine lines. Results and supporting evidence vary between products, so choosing an appropriate formulation is an important part of your consultation.

Mesotherapy may be worth considering if your priorities are:
- Improving dehydrated, dull-looking skin.
- Achieving a fresher, more radiant appearance.
- Softening the look of fine dehydration lines.
- Supporting skin quality as part of an ongoing plan.

It’s an option for clients seeking a subtle improvement in how their skin looks and feels. However, it isn’t an instant fix or a substitute for looking after your skin between appointments.

Small raised bumps, redness, swelling or bruising can occur after injections, so we still need to build recovery time into your diary.

Microneedling: a focus on texture and gradual renewal

Microneedling uses fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating a healing response that includes collagen production.
It may help improve the appearance of certain acne scars, uneven texture and fine lines. Results build gradually, and a course may be recommended depending on your concerns and response.

Microneedling may be worth considering if your priorities are:
- Smoother-looking skin texture.
- Improving the appearance of suitable acne scars.
- Softening fine lines.
- Working towards longer-term

improvements in skin quality.
Afterwards, skin can look red and feel tight or sensitive, with some dryness or flaking as it settles. Recovery varies with treatment intensity and your skin’s response. Infection, scarring and pigment changes are possible risks, which is why assessment and aftercare matter.

Neither is automatically “better”. The best choice depends on your skin, what you want to improve and how much recovery time you can comfortably allow.

At StudioTwenty2, I’ll look at your concerns, current skincare, relevant medical history, previous treatments and the dates that matter to you. That helps us build an individual skin profile and a realistic plan.

Your plan may include one treatment approach or, where appropriate, different treatments at separate stages. Having both isn’t essential, and more treatment doesn’t automatically mean a better result.
I’ll also consider the basics: a comfortable skin barrier, suitable homecare and consistent sun protection. If your skin is irritated or unsettled, getting it comfortable may be the first step.

Progress reviews give us the opportunity to assess how your skin responds and adjust your plan, rather than repeating appointments without a clear purpose.

Christmas party skin starts before December
If you’re hoping to feel more confident in your skin for Christmas parties, photographs and festive catch ups, October is a sensible time to start the conversation.

Around 8–12 weeks before your event:
Book your consultation and begin an appropriate plan. This gives us time to assess your skin and potentially fit in spaced treatments. Some goals, especially scar improvement, take longer.

Around 4–8 weeks before:
Review your progress and continue treatment where appropriate. Appointment spacing depends on the procedure, product and how your skin heals, we won’t squeeze sessions together to meet a party date.

In the final 2–4 weeks:
Focus on allowing skin to settle and keeping homecare consistent. As a planning guide, leave at least two weeks between an injectable or microneedling appointment and an important event; first time or more intensive treatments may need longer. Your recommended gap will be individual, and recovery can’t be guaranteed by a particular date.

In party week:
Keep things familiar, gentle and hydrating. This is the time to enjoy your skin, rather than introduce a new intensive treatment.

The aim is fresher, well-cared-for skin that you feel comfortable in. Real skin still has pores, texture and expression, including at Christmas.

Let’s plan your festive glow
Autumn and pre Christmas appointments are filling up, so booking early gives us more flexibility to plan your treatment and recovery around your diary. If you’re unsure whether mesotherapy or microneedling is right for you, you don’t need to decide before you come in. That’s what your consultation is for. Book your StudioTwenty2 skin consultation, or message me on WhatsApp with your skin concerns and upcoming event dates. Together, we’ll create a plan that fits your skin and your life.
